Crazy Person

The other night after I had taken my contacts out, I went into the kitchen to get some ice. When I stepped into the kitchen, I thought I had seen some animal scurry under the fridge. The following morning I told Peg and Emily of my seeing an animal, and they thought I was crazy and just seeing things. However, Peg decided to humor me and check behind the fridge. After moving the fridge we found no small animal, and it was decided that i was crazy, but upon further inspection a small lizard had made its home under the fridge.  I am now labeled as crazy no longer. My time in the Dominican republic so far has been great and I can't believe more than a week has gone by already.

On Saturday, we went with Elizabeth, Leyani, and Eliseo to Boca Chica.  While we were there, we assisted Leyani and Eliseo  in the Bible school they have there.  We taught a lesson to about 75 children.  We also tried to teach them a song in English, however that did not go over as well as hoped.  Later we played with the children- I was with the younger kids while Emily was with the older.  It was a great experience and I hope we have the chance to go back.

This Sunday Emily and I helped a man named Diogenes in the morning. He has a small sunday school class for the kids that live in his neighborhood. Diogenes lives in a small, poor ally where the children have grown up with little belongings and with bad influences as parents. At first the children were a little apprehensive of the North Americans that were around, but soon they warmed up to us and came the the Sunday school. Emily and I told them the story of Zacchaias (which seems to be our back up bible story but we will need a new one soon). Later, after lunch at the house with all the guests, Emily and I had our english class. We decided to focus on the words of clothing. As we got rolling, we realized our lesson was too easy, and next week we would need a harder one. After our English class we attented the English church with Pastor Bill, where we ended up being in a part of his sermon. I wonder if this is what pastor's children feel like all the time? If you would like to listen to any of Pastor Bill's sermons you can go to { www.theenglishchurch.org }.

On Monday, we had a very chill day. I personally read a book and watched a movie. It seemed to be a very hot day yesterday, so a nice slow day was just what we needed. Emily also skyped with some of the members of her family.  It is always nice to see family when you seem so far away.

Having a great time; can't wait to see what else God has in store!
